Omar Tyree’s New York Times bestselling Flyy Girl trilogy of novels is coming to the big screen!

Starring: Sanaa Lathan

Studio: Lionsgate/Codeblack (in association with Global Renaissance Entertainment Group)
Producers: Effie Brown (Dear White People, HBO’s Project Greenlight)
Executive Producers: Dale Godboldo, Arthur Wylie, Sanaa Lathan

Tyree has been read by over eight million people worldwide, and generated over $30 million for publishing giant Simon and Schuster.

Produced and distributed by Lionsgate’s Codeblack Films, Flyy Girl is a feature length film franchise based on the wildly successful Flyy Girl trilogy of novels: Flyy Girl, For the Love of Money (2001 NAACP Image Award Recipient for Outstanding Literary Work in Fiction), and Boss Lady.

Flyy Girl was adapted to meet the emerging $90 billion “Verge Culture,” a multi-cultural mash-up of tastes and flavors reflecting the diversity of our modern world.

The soundtrack/score for Flyy Girl is positioned to make a cultural impact as well. Featuring some of the hottest artists from around the world in pop, hip hop, soul, R&B and dance, the soundtrack/score will also reflect the “Verge Culture,” and promote the idea that a woman can be sexy while strong, independent … and fierce.

A portion of profits will benefit nonprofit endeavors that promote education and economic development via the Arthur Wylie Foundation and Cherokee Gives Back.
